Joint Auctions prior to Dragon Boat Festival were a big draw. Auction amount reached NT$104,128,765. The AEA branches across the country held joint auctions on June 5. In view of the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, the AEA branches offered a wide range of items at the auctions to attract more interested buyers. Real estate and movable property auction amount reached NT$104,128,765. Real estate items auctioned off this time included: 3 plots of land in Jinning Township, Kinmen County, which the Taipei branch auctioned off around NT$12,190,000; 2 plots of land in Toufen Township, Miaoli County, which the Hsinchu branch auctioned off NT$8,770,000; 1 plot of land and 2 buildings in Dali District, Taichung City, which the Taichung branch auctioned off around NT$9,830,000; 1 plot of land and 2 buildings in Nantzu District, Kaohsiung, and 7 buildings in the city’s Tsoying District, which the Kaohsiung branch auctioned off NT$4,110,000 and NT$59,350,000, respectively. Other AEA branches also auctioned off several plots of land. Real estate auction amount was around NT$101,050,749, scoring a success. In addition, movable properties auctioned off by AEA branches across the country reached NT$3,078,016. The Taipei branch auctioned off Wongji Jewelry’s jade pendants, jade seals, coral hanging ornaments, pearl earring and jade necklaces for around NT$260,000. The Taoyuan branch auctioned off 27 sickbeds of an elderly care center, 3 television sets and 1 massage armchair for around NT$60,000. There were other items that attracted crowds of people. They included foldable outdoor table-chair sets, cars, burl tea trays, fairy tale books and toy blocks. They fetched around NT$450,000. The Taichung branch saw desktop computers, laptop computers and 13 cars auctioned off for around NT$560,000. The Tainan branch auctioned off a 2011 Hyundai i30 sedan imported by Sanyang Motor and a Mercedes Benz S320 for around NT$100,000 and NT$30,000, respectively. The Ilan branch offered for auction container houses, air conditioners, time clocks, rooftop water tanks and conveyor belts, which fetched NT$120,000 in total. People participating in the auctions were happy about the bargain sales. The auctions also helped the government secure outstanding taxes and fees. As a response to the age of diversified payment methods and in an effort to enable the general public to make payments in a more convenient way, the AEA branches across the country start adopting mobile payment systems in 2018. As paying for items bought in the AEA auctions, the buyers, besides cash and credit cards, may also opt to foot the bill using Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay (Android Pay) and Taiwan Pay. There is no need to carry cash with you or withdraw a large amount of money from an ATM.
